Leading up to the preview screening, my team and I are working on finalizing the blocked animation for the animatic.
The current shots that I'm working proved to be quite a bit of an issue, as the Maya file decided that none of the previous animation I'd worked on. At one point, I opened the scene after being mostly finished, really only needing to render the playblast, and was met with:
The scene no longer had any textures, any edited lighting, or any animation, and I ended up having to start over late enough in the process that one of my scenes wasn't able to make it into the final animatic because of our timeline with how we were editing. I still haven't figured out what the issue was, and just had to reset the scene completely. It didn't turn out to be a referencing issue, or anything like that and I didn't want to take too much time away from redoing the work I had lost trying to fix the scene. I think that was the right choice as just restarting ended up going much faster than continuing to troubleshoot.
The scenes I did end up blocking out turned out alright. Both were for the beginning of shot six, where the Ahki is running to confront Baaj. I was working fast, and so the timing/spacing feel pretty off and you can see that there is a fair amount of sliding in her feet as she runs. Otherwise, I'm satisfied with where these turned out in the time I had and the complications that arose.
Though I did get both shots done, disappointingly scene six shot two was only able to go into the final animatic as a very early version of the blocking I'd done.
